Initial position
Proteins are biological macromolecules, which are composed of amino acids and belong to the main nutrients of the human and animal nutrition.
A growing world population also leads to growing demand for proteins. The goal is to develop suitable and sustainable new protein sources for human and animal nutrition.
In the Lead Market Working Group “Nutrition and Agriculture” of the Regional Innovation Strategy of Saxony-Anhalt 2014 – 2020, alternative sources of protein of particular importance for the state of Saxony-Anhalt were identified
- Plant proteins from oilseeds
- Microalgae proteins and
- Defined insect proteins.
PPM is active in this area as a research institute and will continue to deal with these tasks.
Aim
The project involves the construction of a pilot plant for the production of proteins. The project will be carried out in a new factory in Barleben, in the Ostfalen Technology Park.
